Amikacin disuLfate is an antibiotic that belongs to the aminoglycoside class. It is commonly used in microbiology and cell cuLture applications. This antibiotic is a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic with potent antibacterial activity against a wide range of Gram-negative and some Gram-positive bacteria. The disuLfate form of amikacin is a salt derivative, and it is often utilized in laboratory research. 

Used in microbiology experiments to inhibit the growth of bacteria in cell cuLtures or to select for cells containing antibiotic resistance genes. It is particuLarly effective against certain strains of bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics.
