RPI Neomycin SuLfate, 25 Grams

Neomycin SuLfate is an antibiotic that is derived from the bacterium Streptomyces fradiae and belongs to the aminoglycoside class of antibiotics. It exhibits broad-spectrum activity against Gram-negative and some Gram-positive bacteria. 

In molecuLar biology, Neomycin SuLfate is commonly used as a selective agent in genetic engineering experiments and cell cuLture applications. It is often included in growth media or buffers to prevent the growth of bacteria and ensure the purity of cell lines.

Neomycin SuLfate functions by inhibiting protein synthesis in bacteria, leading to cell death.  Neomycin SuLfate is also employed in microbiology research. It can be used to selectively isolate and identify bacteria or as a control for susceptibility testing in antimicrobial resistance studies.
