Brew Plate™ Overview
The Brew Plate™ line offers testing kits and bulk media to help brewers detect common microbes responsible for contamination during brewing. Contaminated samples can be sent to the Brew Plate Laboratory for microbial identification.
Kits test 5 contamination points, and bulk sleeves contain 25 plates with media for yeast detection. All plates from the kits are available for bulk purchase, with free sequence identification included in each bulk sleeve order.
Aerobic Bi-Plate Media
- Quadrant 1: Lee’s Multi-Differential Agar (LMDA) detects bacterial and yeast contamination. It identifies lactic acid-producing bacteria such as Lactobacillus and Acetobacter by changing the media color from green to yellow.
- Quadrant 2: MacConkey Agar (MAC) detects and differentiates gram-negative bacteria, particularly Enterobacteriaceae.
