AG Scientific SDS, Micro-Pellets , 1KG

Description
Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) is an organic salt and an anionic surfactant that is widely used in biochemical research due to its ability to disrupt cell membranes and increase the solubility of proteins. It is particularly notable for its role in the SDS-PAGE gel electrophoresis process, which is a standard protein analysis technique.
In this process, SDS acts in conjunction with a reducing agent to cause proteins to unfold into linear, negatively charged polypeptide chains which can then be sorted on the basis of their molecular weight. Similarly, SDS can be used as a reagent for purifying nucleic acids, another of its major research roles.
This specialized SDS product leverages micropellet technology to eliminate dust and prevent odors and irritation from airborne SDS.
Applications:
- Protein analysis via SDS-PAGE gel electrophoresis
- Used in cleaning detergents
- Food additive
