- The head has an interchangeable Standard Taper inner joint at the bottom for connection to a distilling column and a full length Standard Taper 10/30 outer member to receive a thermometer calibrated for 75mm immersion.
- A tilting funnel in the head receives the condensate and normally returns the liquid to the column.
- A glass-enclosed iron core attached to the funnel may be energized by an external solenoid at timed intervals to tip the funnel and deliver the liquid instead to a product receiver.
- The takeoff tube has a Socket Joint 18/9 ball.The head is completely vacuum jacketed and jacket is silvered to improve the accuracy of temperature measurements and minimize heat transfer.
- The jacket has an internal bellows to allow for differential expansion of jacket and head.
