Sera-Mag SpeedBeads NeutrAvidin-Coated Magnetic Particles exhibit high affinity when binding to biotinylated ligands, including proteins, nucleic acids, and peptides. When attached with biotin, these enzymes influence cell growth through controlling the metabolism of fats and carbohydrates, affecting the amino acids involved within protein synthesis.
Particles are available with a 3500 to 4500 pmoL/mg biotin-binding range. The particles core is made by free radical emulsion polymerization of styrene alongside acid monomers. Free radical emulsion polymerization helps to increase magnetic response times as well as stable physical integrity by having a mixture of monomers polymerized within aqueous solution in order to form a latex. Two layers of magnetite are then coated onto the core, leading to faster magnetic response times. The surface is modified to minimize binding of non-specific proteins. NeutrAvidin is covalently bound to the particle surface.
