Background Information | As a component of the nuclear RNA cap-binding complex (CBC), Ars2 is known to play a critical role in miRNA biogenesis by stabilizing and linking capped primary miRNA transcripts with the primary miRNA processing complex containing DROSHA and DGGR8. Unlike other CBC components, Ars2 expression also plays an important role in cell proliferation. In particular, depletion of Ars2 is shown to reduce the levels of several miRNAs, such as miR-21, let-7, and miR-155, which are implicated in cellular transformation. |
