Overview
Product Description | The GenScript SARS-CoV-2 sVNT Kit (ELISA) - Multiplex VOC is a multiplex serology assay that can detect the amount and inhibition rate of neutralizing antibodies against variants of SARS-CoV-2 in parallel, especially against the Variants of Concern (VOCs). The basic Multiplex VOC kit includes SARS-CoV-2 RBD (Wild-Type). For neutralizing antibodies against other variants, the assay can be extended by adding alternate probes (see V. EXTENSION PACKS). The assay detects any antibodies in serum or plasma that neutralize the RBD-ACE2 interaction and the test is both species and isotype independent. The kit can be used for large-scale serological investigations to study herd immunity levels and to assess the level of neutralizing antibodies produced by the body against wild-type and other variant strains following COVID-19 vaccination. |

Assay Principle
Assay Principle | The GenScript SARS-CoV-2 sVNT Kit (ELISA) - Multiplex VOC is a sVNT ELISA detection tool, which mimics the virus neutralization process. |
Background
Background | SARS-CoV-2 (Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) is a positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus. SARS-CoV-2 contains glycosylated spike (S) protein, which is composed of S1 subunit and S2 subunit. The S1 subunit contains a receptor binding domain (RBD), which is responsible for recognizing the cell surface receptor, angiotensin converting enzyme-2 (ACE2). Infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus initiates an immune response, which includes the production of antibodies in the blood. Some secreted antibodies provide protection against future infections from viruses, because they remain in the circulatory system for months to years after infection and will bind quickly and strongly to the pathogen to block cellular infiltration and replication. These antibodies are named neutralizing antibodies. |
